How do I qualify?

If you are an Orange County based nonprofit, or more than 50% of the clients you serve are Orange-county residents, and you were founded prior to 2020, we invite you to apply for Empowering Good.

All applicants must also demonstrate the impact of the pandemic on your organization by meeting one or more of the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate at least a 15% decrease in revenue compared to years prior to March 2020;
OR
  • Demonstrate disruption in service delivery (ex. clients served, programs offered, etc.) with an increase or decrease in services by at least 15% compared to years prior to March 2020.

How much does the Empowering Good program cost?

100% of the financial costs associated with the Empowering Good program are covered by a grant from Orange County Government.

This means the only “cost” to your organization is the time and participation of your leadership team. (See above for specific time commitment.) We believe this investment of time to reimagine your nonprofit’s capacity and impact will be invaluable!

What is the deadline to apply?

Applications for the Fall 2024 cohort will be accepted through 11:59 PM on Friday, July 26th, 2024 or until all spots are filled.

If you would like to apply for a cohort farther in the future, you may either complete the application now (and we’ll keep it on file) or wait for a future application period.

Do I need any documentation to apply?

The following items are required with your submission:

  • Articles of Incorporation from Florida State Division of Corporations
  • 501(C)(3) Determination Letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
  • Copy of the organization’s most recent IRS Form 990 (990-N, 990-EZ, 990) or the organization’s board approved financial statements (CPA prepared financial statements or Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)).

You are invited to apply to Empowering Good.

Through this training partnership with Orange County Government, participating organizations will engage with the Edyth Bush Institute to grow your nonprofit’s capacity and increase your sustainability for years to come.

Applications for the Spring/Summer ’24 Cohort will be accepted through February 2nd, 2024 or until the cohort is full.
